The biggest question I would receive when I started participating in craft shows was “what is an air plant?” So let me tell you about them and what makes them so great. Air plants are low maintenance because they do not need soil to live. Being a plant however, they still need to be watered, but even this is minimal. Depending on the size of the plant and the dryness of your home, you can soak them upside down for 30 minutes once a week, or mist them 2 - 4 times a week. The plants in the photo above are on a shelf in my bathroom and I do not water them. They survive on the steam from the shower. Air plants also do well in indirect light and can live up to a decade. I saved the best tidbit for last, they are non-toxic to pets. My dog will eat anything, so this factoid makes me very happy.
